Lets get some disscussion started of what our sport will look like in 5 years time. Will your club still be around? Will our membership grow? How do we attract new bowlers? Are the days of the traditional member numbered?
Trends would indicate clubs are struggling, traditional membership is in decline but the casualisation of our sport is on the increase.
It is very likely changes will be forced onto many clubs and bowlers will have to make decisions.
It is evident we have to many venues and many are not sustainable.
Who would like to be a me memeber of a multi use facility with access to indoor as well as outdoor facilities 24,7 and 12 months of the year. Naenae is an example, and the model is being adopted with clubs in Auckland. Would something like this appeal to you?
Is this the direction we should be heading?
What an exciting idea that would be, all year round bowls, with leagues, school programs, corporate days. Could be a great way to expand the sport.
We just need bowlers from Northland to participate in this Forum Subject to find out their views.
